On April 18, 2019, William successfully argued the landmark case, State of Indiana v. Seo, which found that compelling an individual to unlock his or her electronic device violates the 5th Amendment of the United States Constitution.

The Indiana Supreme Court found that forcing you to unlock your phone or electronic device for law enforcement violates your 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination.

On April 18, 2019, William Webster of Webster & Garino argued the Indiana cell phone case before the Supreme Court of Indiana. The case went up on appeal after the Court of Appeals of Indiana ruled in favor of Mr. Webster’s client.
